Okay -
well I've decided to hold off on getting the mermaid - since i'm not quite sure where I want it. I AM sure that I have been saving the top portion of my left arm for the last 29 years for a geisha tattoo - that has somehow morphed into a desire for a woman samurai. I have found that there have been very few women warriors and a couple famous ones. Initially I saw a wonderful picture in a book of a long haired geisha. But as I searched for the pic, I realized that I probably won't find it again - SO I might as well move onto my other idea of a woman samurai.
Here are a few of the pics I liked:
I definately like the delicate image of women - with a sword!
The first 3 are some images I liked for just a geisha pic. I really like the lady on a fish ~
I think a tattoo artist could do a lot with that fish one!
Below are the Samurai Women ~

The first and 3rd one have a nice natural curve that might work well with your bat tat. Those are all really nice!
what about combing the samurai girl with the fish pic?
i figure I'll take in my 2 favorites and have the artist play with them anyway....
Which samurai one? I think I like the fish one the best, I like how she is ridding a fish. It looks like it symbolizes good fortune and knowledge. I really like the way she appears contemplative and in a state of ethos in the classic greek sense of the word. That sort of heroic control of emotion.
I also like the waves and water. I bet the Tattoo artist could do a lot with the water in ways of incorporating the other tattoos.
2,3,7, and the last one if you decide to keep the borders, like you said, a card. not much help from this corner, i like them all. although i tend to move toward the simple images: 2,7 are my favorites. but i agree, the woman on a fish could be an amazing wrap around the arm.
leslie.
I like the 8th one best out of all of them. I dont like any with horses. I think its the most majestic looking one with with equal emphasis on strength and beauty.
I like the second one a lot with the parasol.
